Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Here are some of the things our customers generally ask

How much do classes cost?

Classes are $10 each or $15 for two or more classes on the same night.

We take cash or card and there is no card surcharge.

Do I need to book? Or can I just come along?

For classes, you can just come along. Around 5-10 minutes before the start of the class is best.

Events need to be booked as we usually sell out. Please get in touch if you are interested to join us.

Do I need to have dance experience?

We have three levels of class for various levels of experience. Each evening starts with Absolute Beginners and works it way up:

Absolute Beginner - No experience required

Experienced Beginner - You need to know the basic steps: Grapevine, Rhumba Box, Mambo, Waltz Basic, K Step, V Step, Weave (etc.) but the dances will still be easy and/or slow. If you have done any style of dance before you'll get to here pretty fast!

Improver - the dances here will have more choreography, maybe some different timing and require you to really know your basic steps, without being too challenging.

What is the format of the class?
Both of the evening sessions (St Kilda & Avondale Heights) start with 45 minutes of dancing for Absolute Beginners (AB). Each is then followed by an "Experienced Beginner" class if you feel like staying on. We finish the night with an "Improver" class which is a bit harder again.

The emphasis is on fun, learning and being social.
What do I need to bring/wear?

Bring along a water bottle (and a mug if you want a cuppa before or after class) and wear comfy, non-marking shoes. Runners or something like that are usually good as long as they aren't too grippy - you want to be able to twist and turn a little bit. I will have some shoe covers available if you are sticking to the floor too much.

What style of music is it? Do you only dance country music?

There is a fair bit of country music, both new and old, but line dancing is done to all styles of music. We waltz, we samba, we cha cha and there are line dances to most popular songs!

This playlist - from our Avondale Heights Classes - will give you a sense of the variety of music we cover:

Do I need a partner?

Nope. All line dances are done solo. Just bring yourself and have a good time.

Do you do parties and events?

We LOVE doing parties and events!

We can do country/cowboy-themed or we can just do general dancing. We do take requests for favourite styles or artists and we'd love to help you out with what you are planning.

Get in touch with a request and we can work out availability and/or a quote.
